Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET Centre)

It  is an Autonomous Inter-University Centre (IUC) of University Grants Commission, New Delhi (Ministry of Education, Govt. of India) initiated 1991 by UGC. INFLIBNET is involved in modernizing university libraries in India using the state-of-art technologies for the optimum utilisation of information.

INLIBNET Provides various Programs, services and working on projects on  Open access initiatives for the development of library services in Indian universities.

1. INDCAT

IndCat : Online Union Catalogue of Indian Universities.

It is free Online Union Catalogue of Books theses and journals available in major university libraries in India. It consists of all bibliographic record of resources location and holdings of Books, Theses and Serials. It provides the records in standard bibliographic formats i.e. MARC, MARCXML with advanced search facility using Boolean operators also provides alphabetically by subject category, by name of the university or chronologically by years record search facility with download facility.

2. SOUL Stands for Software for University Libraries (SOUL)

SOUL is an integrated library management software. Designed and developed by the INFLIBNET Centre for college and university libraries to work under client-server environment with international standards for bibliographic formats. The first version of SOUL Software was released during CALIBER 2000. i.e. SOUL 1.0. Second version SOUL 2.0 was released in January 2009. Latest version of SOUL software i.e. SOUL 3.0 released in February 2021.

3. e-ShodhSindhu

e-ShodhSindu is Consortia for Higher Education E-Resources -Ministry of HRD (now renamed as Ministry of Education) has formed e-ShodhSindhu by merging three consortia i.e UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, NLIST and INDEST-AICTE Consortium, to provide access to qualitative electronic resources including full-text, bibliographic and factual databases to indian academic institutions.

It works with the aim of to provide access to subscription-based scholarly information (e-books and e-journals) to all educational institutions and access to scholarly content available in open access through subject portals and subject gateways.

It consist of a number of bibliographic, citation and factual databases from different disciplines from a large number of publishers and aggregators to its member institutions including centrally-funded technical institutions, universities and colleges that are covered under 12(B) and 2(f) Sections of the UGC Act.

4. Shodhganga

Established: 2011

Shodhganga stands for the reservoir of Indian intellectual output stored in a repository. Shodhganga designed  and maintained by the INFLIBNET Centre, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. It is a online a reservoir digital repository of Indian Electronic Theses and Dissertations submitted to universities in India. It is designed and setup using open source digital repository DSpace software. Up to May 2022  646th  universities in India have signed MoUs with the INFLIBNET and crossed 3,50,000 e-Theses on  March, 2022.

5. N-LIST

“National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)”,

It is joint program  of the e-ShodhSindhu Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre and the INDEST-AICTE Consortium, IIT Delhi. It provides resources for universities and e-ShodhSindhu resources for technical institutions and access to e-resources to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and other beneficiary institutions through server(s) installed at the INFLIBNET Centre.  By the subscription of NLIST the colleges can access all e-resources from their location and download articles required by them directly from the publisher’s website as per need. Currently more than 6,150+ journal titles and 1,64,309+ electronic  books  available through subscription of NLIST.

Also institution get benefited to acess to South Asia Archives (SAA) and World E-Book Library (WEL), subscribed by eShodh Sindhu on behalf of National Digital Library (NDL).

6. ShodhShuddhi

It is program  of National Steering Committee (NSC) of e-ShodhSindhu, The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India which is started from Sept 1, 2019. The programme provides facility to access a Web Based formally Urkund Plagiarism Detection Software (PDS) to all universities/Institutions in India.At present 1000+ institutions are get facility of this services incluiding Central/state/Deemed and Private Universities of country and  Centrally funded Technical Institutions(CFTIs), Inter University Centre (IUCs) of UGC .

At present Total 1068 Member Institutions working with plagiarism software and 129667.
